Fourteen years ago, I came home to Cagayan de Oro after living in Metro Manila for 12 years. That was one of the best decisions I ever made!
I have always believed that my hometown held the key to my dreams; and this was proven true just a few months after I set foot in the city. Cagayan de Oro, the City of Golden Friendship, opened a lot of doors for me. I found myself; I found my future in this beautiful city.
My story is just one of the many interesting pictures that make up this awesome city. There are more heartwarming stories, uplifting realizations, and amazing discoveries that the rest of the Philippines (and the world) need to know about. It’s a good thing that the highly advanced technology we now enjoy allows us different – and more creative – ways of getting our messages across. We have the Internet and its social networks; we have blogs and e-magazines; and we have online videos or TV shows like Thumbs Up! CDO TV to help us reach wider audiences.
Thumbs Up! CDO TV is the brainchild of young, creative, and active Kagay-anons who are credited for creating the city’s first online show, CDOKayTV of CDOKay.com. Describing CDO TV as a “hip, interactive, and wide-ranging broadcast quality online TV show”, the group aims to showcase only the best of Cagayan de Oro. Aside from reaching as many Kagay-anons as much as possible, they also intend to connect with audiences in the United States and other countries.
On Friday, November 30, 2012, Kagay-anons are invited to troop to the newly opened Ayala Centrio Mall as Se7en O’Clock Productions formally launches Thumbs UP! CDO TV. It will be a celebration of everything that makes Cagayan de Oro the beautiful city that it is. Local bands and dance groups like Little School House, Banda ni Papet, Paid, Tabularaza, Sonnyboy Tan, Wiz, Superflirts, Xtatic, and Point Dancers will entertain the crowd. They will be joined by our friends from Iligan: Former Child Stars, Arc, and When.
Parents can bring along their kids as there will be acrobats and magicians. Party people will love the awesome beats especially prepared by Soundlab Productions’ cool DJs.
Pour and Mix Mobile Bar is also sending their best professional baristas to complete the fun!
If it feels like a lot of things happening all at once, you are right! But it’s the only way to launch and welcome something that will finally put the spotlight on CDO!
So if you’re a true blue Kagay-anon, keep your Friday afternoon free and head on to Centrio. Be a part of the biggest and most exciting project of the year: Thumbs Up! CDO TV!
I know I will be there. I have to be! This, after all, is one of the reasons why I came home to CDO.
