American photographer, designer, and author Scott Kelby started the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk 10 years ago. Over the years, it has grown immensely in size and popularity. Last year, over 196 countries, 4,416 cities, and approximately 25,000 photographers participated in the 9th Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk. The photographers and photography enthusiasts explored the corners of the world through photography and social community. In the Cagayan de Oro-Northern Mindanao leg, 58 hobbyists, students, and professionals converged at the event.
This year, Cagayan de Oro will once again join the world’s most anticipated global and social photography event. The 10th Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk will take place tomorrow, October 07, 2017. The event will unfold simultaneously in thousands of cities all over the world. The Cagayan de Oro-Northern Mindanao leg will be led by Clement Dampal II, a CDO-based diversified Lensman, who was also the official photo walk leader in 2015 and 2016. The CDO-NorthMin leg is organized in cooperation with the Camera Club of Cagayan de Oro.
The photowalk aims to promote Cagayan de Oro City and showcase some parts of the Province of Misamis Oriental, all the way from its heritage to tourism, the people’s daily activities, infrastructure, growth, culture and the arts. It intends to provide audiences a bigger view of the endless possibilities of fun in the city and province. The event will also give the participants an opportunity to actively engage in social events promoting the quality of life.
Assembly time will be at the Provincial Capitol Grounds at 6am. The group will be welcomed by Governor Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano before the photowalk officially starts at 7am.
By 3pm, the photowalkers will be joining the exclusive Photography Lecture and Seminar at the Apple Tree Resort and Hotel (The Premier Resort Hotel in Metro Cagayan de Oro) conducted by renowned photographers in the region. A special photo session with the special participation of Mr. Gabby Bacarro’s Cagayan de Oro Talent Center (CDOTC) will follow right after.

Aside from the photowalk, registered participants of the Cagayan de Oro-Northern Mindanao leg, will be automatically qualified to join the local photography competition introduced photowalk leader Dampal last 2015. Photographers and participants have the chance to win exciting prizes from the sponsors. Additionally, each participant will have the opportunity to showcase their photos in an exhibit at Ayala Centrio Mall and Gaisano City Mall.
Registered photographers joining the CDO-Northern Mindanao leg photowalk are requested to bring the following:
-Digital Single Lens Reflex/Translucent cameras, and/or Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens cameras
-Point-and-Shoot camera owners are also welcome to join
-A good tripod
Photowalkers will be able to upload their favorite picture to the popular Global Photowalk contest for a chance to win a one year membership to www.kelbyone.com, a DSLR, gift cards, apps, camera bags, and more. A grand prize winner will also be chosen, along with 10 finalists, all to be selected by Scott Kelby himself.
