Last month, a couple of weeks before the new school year started, Apple Tree Resort Hotel invited Kagay-anons and residents from Misamis Oriental to a weekend of fun, sun, sand, and a lot of adventures.
The two-day Endless Summer Beach and Pool Festival opened on May 20 with an exciting beach volleyball showdown. This was followed by a photography workshop courtesy of premier photographer Jijo de Guzman, Canon Crusader of Light and brand ambassador. The workshop featured sports and action photography. A photography competition served as the culminating activity of the workshop.
Another exciting event that unfolded on the first day was the 2017 installment of ARTH’s Shore Breaks Skimboarding Competition. This is the 3rd consecutive year that the hotel organized the said event, which brought together amateur and professional skimboarders, as well as surfing enthusiasts.
Later in the day, fitness and dance aficionados gathered at the sandbar area for Zumbathon By the Bay, a Zumba marathon. It was a survival of the fittest as those who still had the Zumba gracefulness, energy, and enthusiasm after two hours of non-stop dancing were declared winners for the night.
The second day unfolded with the continuation of the previous day’s activities, particularly the skimboarding and volleyball competitions. As the sun started to hide, and while the winners of the various events were acknowledged and awarded, Apple Tree was transformed into a party place for the Endless Summer Beach and Pool Festival.
It was a party like no other as guests took to the pool not only to enjoy its cool foamy waters but also to dance to non-stop music played by Cagayan de Oro’s best DJs – DJ Kyle and RB Banaag, DJ Kitty G, and The Rainman. The first party of its kind in CDO and MisOr, the beach festival drew a mixed crowd of men, women, and families with children. Each of the guests was there to enjoy and celebrate summer.

The Endless Summer Beach and Pool Festival was a fitting tribute to the summer season. Everyone enjoyed a little bit of everything: fun, sun, sand, food, and music. And a lot of foam!
