The Nagkahiusang Magsusulat sa Cagayan de Oro (NAGMAC), in partnership with the Xavier University Department of English, organized a series of Creative Writing Crash Courses that started last month. The first installment was held on May 7 with Lambago Art awardee and vernacular poet Ton Daposala introducing creative writing to the participants. This was followed by three more sessions that featured different speakers and topics.

On May 14, participants were privileged to learn from the best as Palanca awardee Dr. Ma. Elena Paulma talked about fiction and creative non-fiction. A week later, Prof. Arlene Yandug shared her insights on poetry. Last May 28, it was Prof. Roger Garcia’s turn to talk to and interact with the participants. This time, the focus was on drama.

The Creative Writing Crash Courses will end this Saturday, June 4, with Mr. Raul Moldez talking about Binisaya literature.
