I’m Maia. I’m in my 40s and I’m loving it!
I love writing about practically all kinds of stuff. I’m biased, though, to topics related to movies and television, books, poetry, theater arts, yoga, travel, teaching, and life’s roller coaster moments. And, of course, I love writing about Cagayan de Oro (CDO) – my hometown!
I love listening to people tell their stories, so I write a lot of short stories, too.
I work at home and go out for field work a lot. I cover CDO events and I meet a lot of interesting people. I support advocacies like the fight against violence on women, girls, the LGBTQ, and men; and HIV and AIDS awareness. I’m also active in theater, having been involved in the production of The Vagina Monologues since 2013.
In 2015, I became part of a group that staged Lima: The HIV Monologues. We staged the second installment of Lima one year later. Our intention is to keep telling true-to-life stories until people truly understand what HIV and AIDS are all about.
In November 2016, I organized a theater group called Oro Teatro Bulawanon and fulfilled one of my ultimate dreams: to stage my mom’s Palanca-winning stage play “Reyna Elena”. It was a testament to our group’s commitment to showcasing local talents and local plays. We hope to stage more local productions in the coming years.
I believe that I’m lucky because my work allows me to spend time with my husband and my family, including my dog Kara. I also get to do stuff that I love the most: writing.
Mimai Scribbles is like a walk through the green fields of life; there’s a lot about everyday stuff that I love to write about, and some good things about my passions in life -including that of being a Kagay-anon. I also like sharing my unique experiences with beautiful people. Likewise, this is where I share my experiences in traveling, as well as my fun and always satisfying food adventures. From time-to-time, I get to cover important events, too, so I also share such experiences here.
I love meeting people. I love being around friends. And I love sharing my experiences with them. So, if you’re willing to take a ride with me, hop on and join the fun!

God bless, everyone! Live, love, and enjoy life! <3
